My Role
I was responsible for the design, testing conductive ink, and writing the JavaScript code to integrate capacitive sensors and ensure seamless interaction between the hardware and software.
Overview.
My colleague and I designed an interactive game for our master’s program using Arduino, JavaScript, and fabrication methods like laser cutting, ensuring both hardware and software worked seamlessly.
Challenges.
Conductive Ink Stability: Early attempts using coal-based ink failed due to its instability, requiring multiple iterations to find a more reliable solution.
Polyphonic Sound Issues: We struggled to implement a polyphonic sound experience, facing difficulties with MIDI integration and time constraints that hindered the full utilization of the Mozzi Library.
Fabrication Hurdles: Initial attempts to create copper laser-cut stencils were unsuccessful, leading us to shift to using conductive ink with stencils for a functional circuit layout.

Motivation
Electronic interface.
Music is becoming more and more an electronic interface, but the instruments themselves haven’t changed much, and we wanted to experiment with new musical interfaces
Motivation
Playing with music.
Make music playing an intuitive experience, with an emphasis on children, and giving the instrument different possible levels of engagement

Motivation
Collaboration.
Create the possibility for different people to Jam on the same instrument
Play with sound.
